This was filmed in 2011 – there are much newer versions of our work which can be viewed here Sikh Wedding Videography
A few months ago I filmed Nav and Arash’s Asian Wedding Videos Leicestershire. Like all Sikh weddings the weekend started with the Maiyan, Jagoo and ladies Sangeet Ceremonies. I love filming Indian and Sikh weddings as they are so full of colour, fun and emotion. Pre-wedding ceremonies especially as they contain many little amusing moments as families interact and share best wishes with one another. The first evening started with the ladies Sangeet which is also known as the “gaun”. The aim of the Sangeet is to heighten the excitement of the wedding day as the ladies sit together and sing. The songs include jokes about the inlaws and how to have a successful marriages and at the Grooms home they sing songs called ghoiya. Once this had finished it was time for the Maiyan ceremony which is when family and friends rub turmeric paste and mustard oil on the Bride and Grooms arms, legs face and body in preparation for marriage. This was then followed by the Jaggo which I will talk about a little more once I get opportunity to upload some more of their Wedding videos after christmas.
